The UK’s only Tow-At Aerial contest, the Relentless Aerial Assault returned to Newquay’s Fistral Beach this weekend as part of the Relentless Boardmasters in association with Vans Action Sports and Music festival. The final heat saw Relentless athlete Micah Lester and Reubyn Ash battling it out to seal the win. Arial 360, arial reverse and biggest entry were the tricks that saw Micah walk away with the £1,000 prize courtesy of Relentless. Commenting on his win, Micah was stoked to be crowned this year’s Arial Assault winner and “it really could have been anyone’s, every wave is different and this year’s standard was really high. Its great to be involved in such a unique contest in the UK. Relentless really gets behind the contest and gives surfers a chance to compete and showcase their skills. This is the 2nd only time this contest format has been held in the UK, and since it’s launch last year has been eagerly anticipated by the surfers competing at the Boardmasters. The Aerial Assault surf contest uses jet ski’s to sling shot surfers into the waves, allowing them to hit the wave face with a ‘boost’ for maximum air, enabling the surfer to pull off huge aerial tricks otherwise virtually impossible in small conditions. The contest was held around the focus of the Relentless Boardmasters, the 5* World Qualifying Series contest.
